Modified Air Box

Has anyone cut out the baffle plate inside the upper air box that has the 2 venturies in it.

The air box already had a large opening on lower front side. Modified upper air box 09 xp. I ll drive it a bit and decide if the new filter is staying or back to the factory paper filter. We cut out the indented areas of the shield so you could see through it to the filter but the shield was still there.

Here is a picture of mine when i first did it. I m am thinking if i open up the upper air box by doing that. I got a great price on the k n 29 95 with free. Airbox mod thread with some useful info.

Posted in rev xp xs chassis performance trail 120 129 inch models. Removed bottom half of airbox and replaced with a custom piece made to support the filter into the top half exposing the full filter. I modified another air filter box a while ago that was a little different too. Dale increases the air flow 3 ways.

This is the best way to go for the money spent. Thread with more detail. And to really understand airflow and filters then read through this. A4 5 3 0tdi box and snorkel.

A smaller hole will still let out sound and reduce chance of sucking in hot air from the engine bay. Maybe he will post a picture of his too. I dropped in a k n filter and all of a sudden i have just a touch of turbo lag that i haven t had since changing to shell 93 octane. It retains the modified air box while still making huge power gains.
